more about Candela..
Where are you from originally ?
I'm from Malaga (Spain), but I've been living in Edinburgh since 2014.
How long have you been a photographer?
I started shooting weddings in 2012.
What other kinds of photography do you like to do?
Any! Portraits, family, babies, landscapes, street photography... For me it's all about capturing moments and details. Anything can catch my attention at anytime.
How would you describe your photography style?
Romantic, clean, natural.
How do you work on the day?
I like to capture the day as it is. I consider my self a kind of paparazzi, I prefer a natural photography style, not forcing any pose or situation. But when it comes to photograph the couples after the ceremony I always guide them a little if they're not too confident in front of the camera.
Are there any parts of the day you especially like photographing?
I love the couple shots, after ceremony it's like they can finally relax and they can enjoy each other for some time before going back to their guests.
How many images do you normally shoot on a typical 8 hour wedding
No less than 400, usually more than that but it depends on how big the wedding is, the more guest there are the more photos I'll be taking.
How much post production do you do?? What is your style?
I don't like over edited photos, I'm more into soft colours, natural light... But I also tend to remove any unwanted items (such as Emergency exit signs! can't stand them on my photos!)
Do you have a favorite, must-capture moment for every wedding?
I like getting ready photos, although not all brides want them. But I think is a very intimate moment between bride and family/friends, and father's first look is just magic! I also like capturing the couple walking the aisle with confetti and also first dance, it's so nice to see the guest reactions looking at the couple!
What’s the most unique photo you’ve ever taken at a wedding?
There was a wedding I shot a couple of years ago. The bride's father was ill and it was very important for him to see his daughter getting married. The photos of their dance are beautiful and bring tears to my eyes when I see them, there's so much love in them.
What piece of advice would you give brides and grooms to ensure that they get wedding photos they love forever?
I always tell my couples that their wedding day will be one of the most important days in their life, so all they have to do is being theirselves and enjoy it. My mission is making the memory of this day lasts forever.
If you weren’t a wedding photographer, what would you be doing?
I'm also a nurse, but I'm always taking photos of anything around me, even with my phone.
